All payments when booking a trip with Literary Tours Egypt are made using Checkfront, and Stripe is used for any one-off payments. Both of these third-party platforms offer customers as much protection as possible. We chose more platforms because we take security and peace of mind very seriously.

Plans change, we know this, and the events over the last year have brought new challenges for all of us. But we also know how important it is to be able to make plans and have something to look forward to.

Here at Literary Tours Egypt Egypt, we have introduced policies that give you the confidence to book your dream tour with the reassurance that you can change your plans if necessary. • Guides and hosts will maintain Egyptian government recommended social distancing whilst on the tour.
  • Our guides and hosts will adhere to any measures implemented by sites and ensure our clients are fully aware of these.

Everyone at Literary Tours in Egypt is looking forward to welcoming our clients and we are confident that we can provide a safe and welcoming touring environment.

Other Health Considerations

We love that the sun shines most of the time in Egypt and whilst it can be lovely to get some sun on your face, especially if you’re from northern climes, it’s important not to get dehydrated or sunburnt. The sun can be especially fierce if you’re in the desert. Literary Tours in Egypt provides free bottled water on all tours to make sure you stay hydrated. Make sure you also bring plenty of sun protection and a wide brimmed hat.

We understand that being in a foreign country can be daunting if you have pre-existing health conditions (or even if you don’t), so we have our very own Dr Hazim who is happy to speak to you about any concerns you may have prior to your trip. Contact us at any time before or after booking and we will move heaven and earth to create a trip that enables you to experience Egypt.

Literary Tours in Egypt advises all customers not to drink the water in Egypt. Although in theory it is safe to drink, it’s so heavily chlorinated that it may upset your stomach.

Don’t swim in the Nile, even if it is blue and twinkly.

There is no malaria in Egypt, but there definitely are mosquitos. Insect spray and repellent are available, but you may prefer to bring a brand you’re familiar with. We especially recommend bringing your own after-bite treatment because we can confirm that the one available in Egypt is not terribly effective.

Is Egypt Safe to Visit?

Many people ask us ‘is Egypt safe to visit?’ The truth is that we can’t answer that, because only you can decide what factors make it safe for you. What we can do is tell you all the ways we do our best to ensure your safety while you visit Egypt with us and provide you with information to help you make the decision. If this is a particular concern for you, we would be delighted to speak with you, doing what we can to allay any specific concerns.

All Literary Tours in Egypt tours follow the Egyptian Tourism Police requirements — in fact, we have many contacts within the Tourism Police who we consult on a regular basis. In addition, we conduct a risk assessment on every tour and these are available for our customers to see, if they wish.
